In the Wake of the Quake

It has been such a gorgeous thing to watch our community come together in the wake of the quake. So many students have gotten involved in raising money or collecting needed items.Our International Fest, exactly one week after the earthquake, morphed into a major fundraiser. Even Foundation Reina de Quito was able to join in with a performance.

The effort has been well organized and multi-faceted. It’s been a wake up call to get our middle schoolers more involved in community service year round - not just when disaster strikes. We do live in a developing country, after all. I’m excited to be working with all middle and high school students next year and to inspire the desire to serve.
