Then the sun said, "redo."
If seeing the sunrise each work day doesn't inspire you, I don't know what will. At ISKL's new campus, my classroom features views of the sunrise. I'm starting to wonder if this is a coincidence or smart design.
As with the start of each school year, there are new things to try and new minds to stretch. There are days when teacher's think they're on fire and days when we're ready for a career change. This school year I've taken on a new position - Life-Centered Education teacher in our high school. I'm working with our students with the most intensive needs and pioneering this program for the first time in high school. I have four incredible students that are challenging me in new ways and in the same vein bringing so much to celebrate at the end of each day. The days are long, tough, and really forcing me into uncharted territory often. Sometimes the journey into this uncharted territory doesn't go as planned, or to be honest, these moments spring on me so fast there is no time to plan. But that's the true challenge of being in the shaping humans business - children and young adults are all beautifully different and constantly evolving. Sometimes there is no perfect road map to how the day is going to go, but there is always a new sunrise to remind us that a new day brings new opportunities. Lucky for me, I'm getting a visual reminder of this each day as I enter my classroom. As I said, coincidence or smart design? Either way, it's quite literally providing me with the energy I need.
